The Singing Men of West Texas
The Singing Men of West Texas comprised primarily of ministers of music, pastors, other church or associational staff members, and laymen actively involved in the music ministry of their churches who love to offer worship and praise to the Savior through singing and music. The Singing Men of West Texas (SMWT) is one of six satellite choirs of the Singing Men of Texas affiliated with Texas Baptists through the BGCT. The SMWT sing an average of eight concerts a year throughout West Texas from Lubbock to Abilene to San Angelo to Monahans and all places in between. The SMWT have taken Mission Tours traveling in New Mexico in 1999, Southern California in 2001, and Kansas/Nebraska in 2003, New England in 2005, Greater West Texas in 2007. In 2012, the West Texas Chapter of Singing Men will join the other five Singing Men of Texas chapters to travel to the Ukraine to share the gospel though music and ministry.
Members participate through their use of vocal, instrumental, and ministerial gifts. Concerts feature musical styles ranging from classical, gospel, spirituals, country and contemporary christian. Each concert will also feature various soloists and instrumental accompaniments.
